Merit. I smiled at the title and enjoy the quirky way that the dog is coming in from the left hand side. The nose is the prominent feature and so the title fits. I m slightly distracted by the flowers right next to the head and my eye is drawn to the red around the neck of the dog. Maybe next time just think about your background first. But you have a good point of view here. Well done. Correctly sized too.

    SSJ_131_I CAN'T SEE IT!.jpg

Acceptance. Possibly a cleaner and drier version of the same dog as before. Looks like a lovely dog and the hair has some lovely textures and colour. Nice low down perspective and sharp on the head of the dog with even lighting. Next time you get your model to sit for you have a think about the foreground, middle ground and background of your shot before you take your photo. Look around the edge of your shot before you press the shutter. Look for distractions. Great job.

    OPJ_131_SLEEPING GIANT.jpg

Merit. I do like the placement of the horizon line, the light coming over the mountain and getting some colour in the clouds is very good. Do find the little black rock at the bottom distracting so maybe clone this out. It is a little noisy so maybe a high iso was used

    SSJ_131_WAKATIPU STARBURST.jpg

Merit. Great star burst with the radiating lines, good reflection on the water. Have a look at cropping most of the sky out as I feel it is not adding anything to the image. Did wonder if the sun needed to be of the centre but if you crop sky out it seems to work.

  • OPJ_131_IS ANYBODY OUT THERE.jpg

    OPJ_131_IS ANYBODY OUT THERE.jpg

Acceptance. What an adorable subject. There are a few technical issues which I believe if I point out the author as a Junior can learn from and grow your photography in future Images. The first being be aware of things growing out of the top of your subject's head, In this case the bar stools, always look what's behind your subject and aim for a clean clear background or one that helps to tell a story and enhances your subject. Also if you are going to crop then crop tight ie just the head or include the whole of the subject otherwise it can appear as the author is not in total control. The focus on your subject and your control of the lighting is excellent. So go back and have another go.

  • SSJ_131_ON THE RUN.jpg

    SSJ_131_ON THE RUN.jpg

Acceptance. There is a lot in this Image and most of it is sand and water. The dog is well placed on the thirds but the angle that it has been photographed from feels awkward and doesn’t bring out the best of the sense of movement for me as a viewer.

ACHIEVED Nice colour in the sky and the illuminated clouds have been caught well. The edge of the hills etc and not sharp which has let you down. These sorts of very low light image need a tripod of something else to hold it steady. Use the timer rather than handheld can also work

MERIT This fungus shot has been well handled. The gills are nice and sharpand there’s good depth of field. Highlights in the background are a bit distracting but a good effort.
