FTA_027_CABIN IN THE FOREST.jpg
Merit. Great use of a limited colour palette. Subtle yet revealing. Found the tree in foreground slightly distracting. Loved the shallow depth of field.
FTA_027_FIRST LIGHT.jpg
Honours. Elegant use of late afternoon light and exposure placement. Enjoyed both the rim lighting and strong use of shaddows. Only minor issue is the vignette is a touch too heavy.
FTA_140_Old Skippers Road.jpg
Accepted. Really enjoy the way the road as it meanders through the frame. Because of the harsh midday/afternoon light and the ageless subject, I think it would look great as a black & white.
FTA_140_Peeping Out of the Trees.jpg
Accepted. Great subject and colour relationship. I do wish the composition had slightly more on the left.
FTN_144_a quiet place.jpg
Merit. Simple and yet elegant use of light. A well seen image. Many would miss the beautiful yet subtle light quality.
FTN_144_homeward bound.jpg
Honours. Great use of backlighting, a really strong capture! Excellent all round, only slight improvement would be to compose with a little more space in front of the land cruiser.
FTB_151_Toms on the fence.jpg
Merit. Razor sharp where it needs to be and a lovely soft bokeh. Also enjoyed the cotrast in subject matter between the softness of the bird and the harshness of the barbed wire.
FTN_156_MEET UP AT SKIPPERS.jpg
Merit. Great use of the vertical format, it coveys the drama of the location. To improve I would have stepped closer to the edge and lost the scrub in the foreground giving an even greater sense of drama for both you and the viewer
FTA_071_DEAD OR ALIVE.JPG
Merit Great use of leading lines and a intriguing point of view. The subbtle cloud are a lovely find.
FTB_151_Time to light the fire.jpg
Honours. This shot is all about timing and light quality. Excellent handling of a tough lighting situation and keeping just enough information in the shaddows.
FTA_071_DEATH TO THE WILDINGS.jpg
Accepted. A good exploration of ICM through shutter speed. However the end result is quite jarring and a slower shutter and/or stronger pan would have given the image a smoother finish
FTN_156_PHOTOGRAPHERS PARADISE.jpg
Accepted. A great doco shot of the photographer in action. Only improvement would be to wait for the subject to be not looking at (or so close to) the camera.
